1,4-Diazabicyclo[2.2.2]octane (DABCO) in Organic Synthesis and Catalysis: A Quinquennial Report (2019-to Date)

Alam, Mohammed Amanullah and Beda Durga PrasadDABCO is one of the more effective basic organocatalysts/reagents that can be used for a range of organic transformations, including C-H functionalization, formation of hetero-hetero bonds, rearrangements, the synthesis of heterocyclic compounds, cyclizations and annulations, other miscellaneous reactions. This quinquennial review aims to critically and perceptively address noteworthy contributions of non chiral catalyst DABCO for regular organic transformations from 2019 onward. The key areas of attention were the advantages and limits of the approach, in addition to the mechanistic pathway, which is required for a specific organic transformation to be performed effectively.

Xanthenes: Novelty and Green Photocatalysis for the Formation of Carbon-carbon or Carbon-heteroatom Bond
This review covers photoreduction reactions using xanthenes reported from 2011 to date and compares them with the conventional photocatalytic method. Xanthenes have strong absorption in the visible light spectrum (520-550 nm), and their redox potential resembles organometallic complexes, such as those containing Ir or Ru, and they are also easy to handle and accessible. In addition to being metal-free, photocatalysis with xanthenes is performed under mild reaction conditions. For instance, no radical initiators are needed because the energy sources are led devices or household lamps, most reactions are performed at room temperature in common solvents (MeOH, MeCN, acetone, DMSO), and an anhydrous or inert atmosphere is usually not required. As a result, xanthene dyes hold the promise of a more environmentally friendly synthesis of organic compounds.

Multi-functional Acyl Urea Compounds: A Review on Related Patents, Clinical Trials, and Synthetic Approaches

The article summarizes the synthetic procedures used to produce various Acyl urea synthons and includes instances of clinical trials, patents, and commercialized medications having Acyl urea and N-acyl urea moiety. This extensive study examines and summarizes research on acyl urea derivatives conducted over the last 20 years from a variety of sources, including PubMed, Google Scholar, and Google Websites. When it comes to the discovery of new chemicals, urea derivatives still require attention compared to other acyl compounds. This review paper aims to provide a comprehensive overview of the various synthetic approaches utilized in the design of an array of acyl ureas to accomplish the same goal. This work summarizes information related to several heteroatom-fused acyl urea compounds, which fortunately will be a very useful resource for chemists and scientists who are interested in acyl urea synthesis and its applications in chemistry.

Luminescent Dansyl-Calix[5]arene for the Recognition of Biogenic Amines
A luminescent calix[5]arene with a covalently linked dansyl chromophore substituent has been successfully used, both in solution and in the gas phase (ESI-MS), for the recognition of biogenic amines that contain linear alkylammonium structural unit. Binding constant values, determined by fluorescence spectroscopy, revealed a greater affinity for cadaverine, spermidine, and L-lysine, in which the terminal ammonium group allows for additional stabilizing interactions with the dansyl moiety.
