Synthesis and SARs of Coumarin Fused 1,5-Benzothiazepines as Novel Anticancer and Antioxidant Agents
Authors: Mazaahir Kidwai, Roona Poddar, Arti Jain, Rakesh Kumar and Pratibha M. LuthraA novel series of coumarin fused benzothiazepines has been synthesized via coupling of oaminothiophenol with in situ generated 3-benzylidenechroman-2,4-diones. These novel compounds were screened for their in vitro antioxidant activity against free radical form of ABTS and cytotoxic activity against U87 human glioma cells. Molecular modeling and QSAR analysis were performed to explore comprehensive str Read More

Synthesis, Biological Activity of Thiazolidinones Bearing Indoline Moiety and Isatin Based Hybrids
Authors: Dmytro Havrylyuk, Borys Zimenkovsky and Roman LesykThe features of the chemistry of 4-thiazolidinone and isatin as privileged scaffolds were described in a number of reviews in which the main approaches to the synthesis of mentioned heterocycles and their pharmacological action were analyzed. However, the 4-thiazolidinone-indoline conjugates as well as isatin based heterocyclic hybrids as biologically active compounds is poorly discussed in the context of pharmacop Read More

Chemistry of 2,5-dihydroxyacetophenone, a Key Chromophore in Cellulosic Substrates
Authors: Takashi Hosoya, Alfred D. French and Thomas Rosenau2,5-Dihydroxyacetophenone (DHAP) is one of the three key chromophores found in aged cellulosics. Knowledge of the general reactivity and chemistry of this compound is helpful for a better understanding of cellulose aging and yellowing as well as bleaching of cellulosic materials - processes that also have considerable economic importance. This paper reviews the reactions reported for 2,5- dihydroxyacetophenone Read More

Advances in the Chemistry of Quinoxalinone Derivatives
Authors: Leilei Shi, Hua Zhou, Jifeng Wu and Xun LiAmong the family of nitrogen-containing heterocycles, quinoxalinone (or quinoxalin-2-one) core, characterized by pyrazin-2(1H)-one fused to benzene ring at two adjacent carbon atoms, has been frequently found in a variety of pharmacologically active compounds with biological or pharmaceutical applications. In this article, we highlighted the synthetic methods of this scaffold, as well as its derivates.
