Carbon-Carbon Bond Formation Facilitated by π-Complexed Organometallic Auxiliaries: An Overview
Authors: Animesh Roy, Bilal A. Bhat and Salvatore D. LeporeOrganometallic moieties attached to substrates via π-complexation play an important role as auxiliaries. As described in the present review, η-linked auxiliaries have been employed to overcome numerous synthesis obstacles that continue to present significant challenges for catalyzed reactions. This has been particularly true in carbon-carbon bond forming reactions involving highly unsaturated systems such as arenes, Read More

Easy and Cheap Method for Synthesis of 5-Hydroxymethylfurural. The New Look At The Old Methodology
Authors: Jarosław Lewkowski and Grzegorz GrabowskiThe easy and cheap method for the preparation of 5 hydroxymethylfurfural in a satisfactory yield is described in this paper. The method is a practical modification of the old methodology elaborated 74 years ago. Its requirements are so simple that it may be used in scarcely equipped provincial laboratories, which do not have any important financial support.

Selective α,α-Dibromination of Arylethanones with Copper(II) Bromide
Authors: Jitander K. Kapoor, Loveena Arora and Om PrakashVarious arylethanones including electron-rich aromatic ketones such as o-hydroxyacetophenone and its p-isomer underwent selective side-chain α,α-dibromination using a heterogeneous system consisting of four molar equivalents of copper(II) bromide in chloroform-ethyl acetate under reflux. This study provides the cleanest method for the selective synthesis of several synthetically useful α,α-dibromoketones which are Read More

Quantum Mechanical Investigation of Geometrical Structure and Dynamic Behavior of h-BNNT (9,9-5) and h-AlNNT (9,9-5)Single-Walled Nanotubes: NBO Analysis
Authors: Mehrnoosh Khaleghian and Fatemeh AzarakhshiIn the present research, B45H36N45 Born Nitride (9,9) nanotube (BNNT) and Al45H36N45 Aluminum nitride (9,9) nanotube (AlNNT) have been studied, both having the same length of 5 angstroms. The main reason for choosing boron nitride nanotubes is their interesting properties compared with carbon nanotubes. For example, resistance to oxidation at high temperatures, chemical and thermal stability higher rath Read More

Synthesis of First Generation Dendron, GABA Caged Bis-1,2 -(4-acetylphenylethynyl)-4,5-dimethoxybenzene for Photorelease Study
Authors: André Barrella, Nia H. Rene, Kisha J. Ali, Jeonghee Kang and Jong I. LeeFirst generation dendron bis-1,2-(4-acetylphenylethynyl)-4,5-dimethoxybenzene with a photo cleavable linkage to (t-butyloxycarbonyl-γ-aminobutyric acid (t-Boc-GABA) was synthesized for photo release study to apply for drug delivery. Both the divergent method from the core, 1,2- dimethoxybenzene and the convergent method from p-hydroxyacetophenone were not successful to generate the final dendron produc Read More

Synthesis and Biological Evaluation of Benzothiazole-piperazine-sulfonamide Conjugates and Their Antibacterial and Antiacetylcholinesterase Activity
Two series of N-2-benzothiazolyl-4-(arylsulfonyl)-1-piperazineacetamides/propanamides were synthesized from substituted 2-aminobenzothiazoles and were assayed for their in vitro antimicrobial activities against a panel of different pathogenic bacterial strains such as Micrococcus luteus, S. aureus, S. aureus MLS-16, B. subtilis, Escherichia coli, Pseudomonas aeruginosa, Klebsiella planticola and Candida albicans. Among the s Read More

Synthesis and Crystal Structure of Calix[4]arene Derivative Containing 1,3-Diketo Moieties
Authors: Xuemei Xu, Zaigang Luo and Chao MaThe synthesis of the calix[4]arene derivative containing 1,3-diketo moieties via direct Claisen condensation without protection of the unsubstituted phenolic OH groups is reported. Single crystal X-ray diffraction analysis reveals that the calix unit to be in a cone conformation incorporating two 1,3-diketo subunits disposed in alternate position at the lower rim. And the crystal packing reveals that the overall packing of the comple Read More

Zinc Sulfamate Catalyzed Efficient Selective Synthesis of Benzimidazole Derivatives under Ambient Conditions
Authors: Sushil R. Mathapati, Arvind H. Jadhav, Mantosh B. Swami and Jairaj K. DawleZinc sulfamate (Zn(NH2SO3)2 is a derivative of sulfamic acid (H3NSO3) which possesses “Lewis acidity” and finds well suited in a number of catalytic applications. The present paper describes an efficient, eco-friendly, and clean synthesis of 2-substituted benzimidazole derivatives by reacting diverse o-phenylenediamine with various substituted aromatic aldehydes using a catalytic amount of zinc sulfamate in ethanol Read More

Synthesis of Carbocyclic Nucleosides (+)-Neplanocin A, (+)-Aristeromycin and 4'-epi-(+)-Aristeromycin from D-Fructose
Authors: Perali R. Sridhar, Vennam D.K. Reddy, Mandava Suresh, Nadiveedhi M. Reddy and K. S. KumarD-Fructose is used as the chiral pool starting material for the stereoselective total synthesis of (+)-neplanocin A. Zinc mediated fragmentation, ring-closing metathesis and oxidative rearrangement of cyclic tertiary allylic alcohol are used as the key steps in achieving the synthesis of key carbocylic intermediate. Further, stereoselective total synthesis of 4'-epi-(+)-aristeromycin and the conversion of (+)-neplanocin A to a Read More

Synthesis of Indole Derivatives and Their Evaluation against Root Knot Nematode Meloidogyne incognita
Authors: Jaskirat Kaur, Divya Utreja, N.K. Dhillon and Shivali SharmaEight new 2-(1H-indol-3-yl)-N-(aryl)-2-oxoacetamide amine based indole derivatives were synthesized. Microanalytical data, 1HNMR, 13CNMR, FT-IR and XRD were used to characterize the synthesized derivatives. The indole derivatives had also been screened for their nematicidal activity against root-knot nematode Meloidogyne incognita. Chlorine substituted indole derivatives had shown significant nematicidal activity comparativ Read More
