2-Isocyanatobenzonitrile and 2-Isothiocyanatobenzonitrile - Versatile Building Blocks in Organic Synthesis
Authors: Franziska Bendrath and Peter Langer2-Isothiocyanatobenzonitrile (ITCB) and isocyanatobenzonitrile (ICB) represent versatile difunctional building blocks containing a nitrile and an isothiocyanate or an isocyanate function, respectively. The present review provides an account of the chemistry of ITCB and ICB. This includes a number of one-pot cyclizations which provide a convenient access to a variety of pharmacologically important heterocycles.

Synthesis, Characterization and Physico-chemical Properties of New 2-(4- Arylpiperazine-1-yl)-1-(3-methylbenzofuran-2-yl)ethanoles as Potential Antihypertensive Agents
Six new arylpiperazinylbenzofurane derivatives as potential hybrid antihypertensive agents were designed and synthesized. The discussed compounds were prepared as free bases and subsequently they were transformed into hydrochloride salts. More LessThe role of carbohydrates in tailoring the synthesis of heterocyclic compounds has grown substantially since it was last reviewed (Current Org. Chem., 2000, 4, 609). This article includes correcting, revising, inserting of missing references, and updating the earlier account. The sequence for numbering the formulae is the same as in the earlier one and the new formulae following the old ones.

Under mild reaction conditions, ethyl 4,4,4-trifluoroacetoacetate and its derivatives reacted with various organic reagents to produce CF3- containing N, O, S-heterocycles.
