These small round black seeds are edible and useful for our wellbeing whenever taken in a restricted amount. Their reuse will be useful not only for the economy and environment rather; it will prove to be a ray of hope for the food industries engaged in the search for plant-based food ingredients to enhance the nutritional status of functional foods. In this review, we have discussed the composition, medicinal properties, its utilization as a nutritive agent, and a promising preservative.
